KGK REDDY

Kgk reddy joined in the branch after the branch was shifted to new premises.His full name was k gopala krishna reddy.Every one used to call him KGK.He was of small built ,lean and looked like a boy of 15-20.I was surprised to know that he was married and had two children.It came to light like this.At that time,Bank was giving incentive if we underwnt family planning operation.But the condition was that we should get the operation done in a recognised hospital.At that time ,Officer promotee ,Venugopal reddy also joined from Karakambadi.He too underwent that operation and applied for the incentive.Circle office people declined saying that it was not a recognised hospital by the Bank.Then ,he mentioned that two of other employees also underwent operation at the same hospital and they were getting the incentive.So,Circle office cancelled their incentive also.Kgk was one of them who got his Fp incentive cancelled.

But ,keeping this incident aside,Kgk was a very good natured guy,calm and composed.He was mild,never hurt anyone.He was a good worker and had good knowledge about various departments.He had a very sweet smile and was good with every one.Later he got transferred and became an officer.He got promoted as senior manager and was touring as he became computer specialist.I think he got his two daughters married and now presently working at Hyderabad.

At one time,I had to attend STC AT Hyderabad.I am afraid of cities.So that day AVS came to the railway station to pick me up.In the evening Kgk took me to his house .His wife and children were good to me.She prepared Chapathis for me for the journey .Kgk came to Railway station and saw that I was comfortable in my berth and gave me send off .He waited till the train started and then only left.I was very happy that I had a good friend in KGK.

TBG SHENOY

He was our branch manager at Nellore.He used to move with staff in a pleasant way.He used to allot me more work and when Ram prasad used to to protest,he would tell him that if I really could not complete ,he would remove it.H e knew I was fast.One day,he told Lakshmi kumari,a clerk,to write KDR and she refused.We did not know why she was refusing to write KDR.Later ,we came to know that the customer put his wifes signature in front of Manager and Lakshmi.Manager did not object because he was a valued customer.But since the actual customer has not signed ,Lakshmi refused.

He never used to protest to give us leave and permission too.Once,I went to Talupur for some festival and it was year ending day.It seems that he commented that if he had not given me permissions whenever I asked ,there would never have been any leaves pending for me to avail.

One day,I GOT pain in the chest by 11.30am.He simply took me in his car to my house and left me in my house.He was very serious with officers.He would never question workmen if any work was pending.He would say to them,either you make your clerks to do or do yourself.Work should be completed to me in the stipulated time.Officers used to go outside during office hours saying they wanted to meet our Bank advocate.He would phone our branch advocate if they really did come to him and at what time and for how much duration.Officers used to feel humiliated.

If officers reply him that they were working late hours and were also coming on Sundays too.he would simply reply that since they are inefficient they were sitting late hours.

For one new year day,he presented all the male employees of the branch with kurthas and all female employees with hankys set.We all felt very happy because it was a pleasant gesture and unexpected.

During his stay branch developed very much.He had a hear attack once but recovered soon.His son was studying in V R COLLEGE and he was writing sports articles for Hindu at that time.He was coming to the branch sometimes to talk to his father or when there were no classes.

BALASUBRAMANYAM

P Balasubramanyam joined at Nellore branch soon after my joining.At that time he was still a bachelor.He was the only son to his parents.They were sort of possessive about him. His father was a Sanskrit lecturer .Balu was friendly with everyone.His IQ was very high.He too did MSC at SVU,TIRUPATHI.He managed good relations with both clerical staff and management. He bacame friend of Prasad and he used to come to our house also in the evenings ,play with my children,talk to my brothers in law and leave.So everyone in our family also knew him.He was avery good worker.At one time,my maternal uncle wanted to get his daughter married to him.BBut he gently refused.Because he knew he was the only son to his parents.In this issue he wanted to go along with his parents aproval.If a match comes through his friends or people close to him,they might think he was interested in that match and they do not have any say in it.They might feel let down,.So he gave his parenst full freedom in that matter.

His parenst saw a girl of their choice and he did not even lift a finger and happily married that girl.I too attended his marriage.Soon he had a son but a rift came in between his mother and wife.She went for delivery and she did not go back and he did not take her his place where he was working.At that time ,he was working at Vijayawada and had an accident.I used to take my children to his house and spend some time with his parents and he used to play with my children .Later taking advice of our seniors like Ramprasad and others,he took his wife and child to Vijayawada without his parents notice. Later they came to know and felt very depressed.They were afraid that he would not look after them.But nothing like that happened.Balu is a very good person with high moral values.He looked after his parents till their last breath.They died within few days gap.They were so attached to one another.Loss of one could not be digested by the other.In a gap of 3-4 days of his fathers death,his mother also passed away.

We worked together at Nellore branch for a long period.While working at Chittoor,he came to attend Kuppaiah chettys daughters marriage.In 1998.Ii got transferred to Tirupathi branch.After BPRAOS tenure as manager,Balu came as branch manager.I felt comfortable working under him during his period.I had so many family problems and financial problems at that time.Getting my son,Vijayakrishna ,educational loan was aherculian task.But Balu along with Ravi kumar helped me in getting the loan sanctioned.If all my children have studied abroad and settled well in their lives it is mainly due to Balu and Ravis help at that critical moment.

Entire beauty lies in the fact that he never does help with ulterior motives or expecting some thing in return.

When he got transferred to POONA CO,I invited his entire family to home for lunch and they happily spent their time with Prasad.children and me that day and left.

Last week,when I went to Nellore branch along with my sister,he was also present there on leave.Our earlier colleague of Nellore branch,Rama krishna rao was the branch incharge.So we all of us spent sometime in the cabin and left.He has two sons.One has already completed Btech and preparing for GATE AND SECOND ONE IS STUDYING JUnior inter now.

I am ever greatful for his brotherly help whenever I needed.

Vaalla illu Raja veedhilovundedi.Her husband was a doctor, HE WAS SENIOR TO MY brothers and sisters at SV MEDICAL COLLEGE,Tirupathi. But the bad luck was that though he was avery good guy ,his friends did not have good track record. So professors were not passing him in the exams. His rowdy friends had other types of influence in passing the examsin other wrong ways, but he had none. So even after they completed the course ,he was still studying Anatomy and Physiology.He studied MBBS fOR ALMOST TWENTY YEARS.He could not secure job in government, HE COULD NOT do private practice successfully. Practically his education was an utter waste economically for him.

A padmavathi had a brother who was doing a good job in the city.One day when he was going to the office, he fell from the byke due to a small collision. He did not bruise due to that fall. But the bad luck was that before he could recover and get up ,other vehicles did not stop and crashed into him . HE HAD MULTIPLE injuries. Of them brain injury was the major injury. At the time of fall, he did not have a helmet.Practically, he was in coma for many months. Even after that his brain was like a cabbage and all his intelligence and IQ had gone completely. HE HAD TO ATTENDED TO as if he were a baby. He could not recover from that condition for a very long time.

AP admavathi was a classical Bharatha natyam Dancer and it she gave her Aarangetram at Ravindra bharathi, Hyderabad when she was in her teens.

Her inlaws were very rich. aCTUALLY they need not struggle for money. But the surprising thing in their house is that everyday morning, her father brings provisions for that particular day alone. Next day again from A to Z again they would purchase. I felt it was strange because we generally provisions atleast for a month if not for the entire year. But like milk and curd, rice, dal,oil and what not everything was bought on daily basis.

We worked together for many years . She got transferred to Hyderabad and she was living with her parents during her stay at Hyderabad. I used to meet her whenever I went to STC,HYDERABAD.She said that her children were well settled. She had major operation recently, but now she is fine.

During her second tenure at Nellore, she used to sit late hours in the bank so that management would not disturb her. But when she got her transfer to Vijayawada she did not get relieved , but tried to stop her transfer orders by aprroaching Management executives. But Union got displeased by her double tactics and saw to it that she got relieved at Nellore and join at Vijayawada.Later she got tarnsfer to Hydearabad and now she is settled there.

R V RAM PRASAD

Soon after I joined at Nellore branch ,Ram prasad too came on transfer.He was a senior most clerk .He was an active union leader.Actually ,he was a central committee member. He mixed with every one very well.Soon ,for every doubt,everyone used to go to him for clarification.Soon he became popular among customers also because he used to render  better customer service compared to management and workmen. When ever executives attended the branch,they first used to go to him,talk to him and then go into the managers cabin .Everyone used to respect him. Soon he became a special assistant.Since not even a month has lapsed from his date of joining the branch, management retained him at Nellore branch as a special assistant.


He ruled the branch from then. He used to come to help everyone. I worked under him for many terms in SB counter.Once when I got transferred to MJ MARKET,HYDERABAD HE GOT IT CANCELLED.Every one in the branch used to comment cheaply about it. Next year also I got transferred to Hyderabad.But he helped me by getting modification to Karakambadi.After two years of my stay at Karakambadi, He recommended my transfer to Nellore after talking to Kuppaiah chetty ,then state secretary.
I got transfer orders and joined at Nellore branch. I was aghast to learn that previous night ,he had accident and had multiple injuries. So as a senior most clerk, I had to discharge supervisory duties till his joining .


He was such a good natured man that when he came to visit doctor he came to our house to enquire about me.I was shocked to learn later when I was working at Chittoor as a special assistant,That he was suspended for having committed fraud to the extent of many lacks. CBI also entered and his involvement was proven. He accepted it and was imprisoned for two years at Rajahmaundry jail.He lost his job.


Later I came to know that he was addicted to drinking and other bad habits. He was a native of Gudur,. It seems that he was my elder brothers classmate at gudur high school.His mother expired at the time of childbirth.His father left him for his fate.So his maternal grandmother looked after him and got him married to her another grand daughter.His father did not even attend his marriage. He married immediately after his first wifes death.
I heard that now he is staying at Hyderabad with his son.All his children are married and well settled.
I wonder what twists and turns fate takes everyone. Such a nice human being had come to such a pathetic end.

Dayaasaagar

Dayaasaagar was our officer. He was goodnatured and jovial. Goldman and he worked together in previous branch also. So goldman used to call him as Dayaa. Though he was dark complexioned he was attractive.He used to be friendly with everyone. if there is difference in balancing and no one could identify it, he would take it as a challenge to tally it. So whenever we had problem in tallying SB Ledgers we used to approach him. He would never so no when ask his help.Actually I learnt tallying SB ledgers from him. If we tell him the actual difference ,he would almost guess where the dfference would be. With in no time, he would tally it. It was really an art. 
I had small children. So I used to ask them to permit to go as soon as I completed my work and he would oblige ,He was the floor leader.Just as soon as lunch break was over ,I would start put closings in all the ledgers ,put slip totals ,tally it and I would as their permission to go home.It would be barely 3pm by then. But on the condition that I take one ledger balancing, he used to say he would permit me, I used to take down balancing in 15minutes,put page totals in 5minutes and stand before him by 3.15pm to let me go. He would permit me to go home.
He was such a nice person that during yearend ,he would phone me and tell me the figures.,profit and loss and all thos e details like who worked till what time and what problems propped up while doing balancesheet.
They would never ask me to sit late even for year end work.
One day, he came few minutes late to the branch and he looked odd. I commented just like that something by seeing him. He was surprised and called me . When I went ,he was wondering how I could find out that he had sex with his wife just before coming to the branch.Really I did not know any such thing ,but he thought I caught him red handed about his latest deed. I laughed and said I didnot anything and my remarks were purely innocent.
Later , he got transfered to Hyderabad. Whenever I went to STC ,Hyderabad for training,he would come to STC and talk to me . Later I lost track of him, because I was overburdened by my family problems. 

GOLDMAN

M.Madhusudhan rao was our senior clerk in those days. He was soft spoken and calm boy. They were goldsmiths. By the time I joined at Nellore branch, he was not married.Matches used to come and some people used to come to the branch for enquiry and see the boy. We used to make fun of him.But later he married a very rich girl . She was very obase, though her face and nature were good. So he had to do everything at house because she could not attend to all the cores effectively. Generally boys dont take oil bath on Fridays . Women do on Fridays. But MmRAO USED TO Take oil bath on Fridays and come to the bank. When we asked him why he was doing so ,he used to reply innocently that as his wife does on Friday ,he would also do with the remaining kunkudu kaaya pulusu ,so that it may not go waste.Because he married a very rich girl and they were goldsmiths by caste ,we used to call him goldman.

Whatevr we comment ,he would not retort or reply. HE would just smile at us. But oneday hegot very angry at me because I laughed at him for some silly thing.From then on he stopped talking to me. He did not say for what he got offended.Later he got promotion as an officer and was posted interior of Tamilnadu. There he could not get adjusted and took reversion as a clerk. Later he became special asistantand settled at Hyderabad.Once or twice I met him At STC,HYDERABD.Then he talked to me and enquired about my children and Prasad. He said his children also got married and well settled. I think he would have got retired by now.

Venkateswarlu

Venkateswarlu was a clerk like but few years senior to me. He got his appointment under reservation quota. But who ever come for him ask if reddygaaru was there.So everyone knew that just for the sake of employment he manipulated as SC/ST Candidate. But keeting this aside he was anice person ,jovial all the time. He did not have much working knowledge.During summer, electricity failure was very common and bank was not provided with generators during those times. So in the afternoon, he used to take off his shirt and work whenever there was electriciy failure.He also had weakness for women it seems. Because our other staff members used to say that he would kiss at the photos of woman borrowers ,because we used to take photos of borrowers along with loan applications in those days also.

He went to write promotion test as soon as he got the eligibilty. In those days it was written test ,some objective and some essay type questions.There was no multiple choice question paper,. He used to make sure that intelligent friends of him sit around him in the examination hall so that each one would help him in answering all the questions. Because he was a reservation candidate, he got eligibilty by completion of four years of service only.Some how ,either by hook or crook ,he passed the written exam and got selected as an officer very soon.

He worked in Bombay for a term and returned back to Nellore as an officer. He used to tell us frankly. He did not have any working knowledge.If anything went wrong,clerk and officer had to bear 50/50 %. So if we wanted to save our loss of 50% we should be alert and more careful, because he would sign blindly whatever we did in good faith.

We were not angry with him because ,it was his sincere request and we knew him since when he was a clerk .Her wife was workin at DKW COLLEGE AS a record assistant or something. He got transferred to Mumbai and his wife to someother place. So their daughter was kept in DKW college and staying at the hostel .She fell in love with a brahmin boy who was her classmate and they eloped. Then their parents got them married. They had a son soon and we were invited for his baarasaala.Later , Venkateswarlu took VRS and led a retired life.

Kalahasthi Bala thripura sundari

In short we used to call her KBT.She was short,slim, fair and a good person. She was dignified and did not entertain any males unnecessarily ,whether they were colleagues or customers. She used to keep everyone at bay.But I was shocked when I came to know that she was married to A Singh. bondelavaallu, and that second marriage for him. I did not ask her about these things but I am writing what other colleagues told about her. She was a Tamil Brahmin and all her brothers were teachers. They had own house at Pogathota,Nellore, heart of the town. She was the only daughter. No one knew how but she got attracted towards him who was more than ten years older than her and was already married and had a son by his first wife. It seems First wife came to the Branch once she knew that her husband married this lady and made a big scene.

As a result her entire family boycotted her. When i JOINED AT Nellore branch, she was already married. She was tensed that she could not concieve. As my sisters were working as doctors at Government maternity hospital,Nellore ,I took her to them and they conducted D&C ,BUT it was of no use. Then there was a rumour that already her husband had undergone Fp operation, so she could not concieve.

She was friendly with me , SHE was MA english literature. I could smell that she was not happy in that relation ship mainly because her brothers, parents did not accept her. Once ,it seems our second line manager RR KANADEhad gone to Ranganayakula swamy temple with family and she was sitting there weeping. She looked as she was about to indulge in self harming act like drowning in Penna river flowing nearby. Kanade suspected aptly and waited and saw that she had alited rickshaw and went home.He gave company to her till she could become normal emotionally. Few days after wards, she did not come to the branch. Halfan hour, after, her husband came for her. I was afraid that she might do some harm to herself if she could not think properly. Then I took permission from manager and went to her house. Her house was lcked from outside, Then I called and enquired with her house owners, She said sundari was inside, Then I went to her and clarified myself that she had no such motives as on then and returnedto the branch with relief.

Achandra sekhar and Ram manohar rao

These two also worked at that time at Nellore branch. Special attraction of these two people is that my father tried for matchmaking for me. Both did not materialese. AC was Amancharla boy and he had a sister to be married. When my father approached her, she put forth obligation that My brother had to accept to marry her daughter. My father did not like this proposal and it was dropped. I dont know why match with Rama manohar did not materialise.

But both of them were decent people and never reminded me of my fathers approach to them earlier.Of them AC was good looking and sharp and Rammanohar was calm and composed. As they were long standing they got transferred soon and became officers afterwards.

Murthy was a typist and he was not a native of Nellore . He was a vegetarian but soon became a non vegetarian by habit. The reason was this. Srinivasulu, our dafthary was maintaining poultry farms at home. Once in a while he used to invite colleagues to his house and give nv party. First time , he tasted it with reluctance and later became a lavish eater of non veg.

Seshagirirao, p chandrasekhar

When I joined at Nellore ,Seshagiri rao and P chandra sekhar were senior clerks. As I changed my union membership from Staff union ti employees union, these people talked to me. Staff union members boycotted me. These were good natured people. Once Seshagiri rao lost rs10000/ in cash. They could not locate it. He was not economically sound to pay back the amount to the bank. Then all the members got united and contributed each rs1000/ and made good the payment to the bank.

P Chandrasekhar was short, stumoy and jovial Brahmin. He was a cigarette smoker. They all had good working knowledge. It seems that earlier he was attracted to K bala thripura sundari, our another colleague at Nellore branch. She was a TAmil brahmin and they were very Orthodox. It seems that she used to bring her coffee in a flask so that she may not be forced to drink outside.

But she got married to another person and he with some other person.

Both of them became officers soon.

Suresh, Mrk murthy

A suresh was our special assistant at Nellore branch. he was short, fair and good natured Brahmis. I never swa him lose his temper. He was soft spoken. His son was a dancer. He is to perform frequently at town club. He used to invite us for those programs. He was a small boy then, but in later days also he pursued his hobby and got appointment as dance teacher in Kendria vidyalaya, Delhi. I was his clerk for many terms. I handled Drfts, head office, outstationed cheques collection and other miscellaneous departments under him. Our combination as supervisor and clerk was a success.This I am saying because , I am really short tempered. It is more apt to say that even I dont know when and how I would lose my temper. I am most unpredictable creature on the face of the earth.He handled me efficiently so that he could extract maximum work with least resistance.

Later he got transferred to Karakambadi and became an officer also before retirement.

MRadhakrishna murthy was a senior clerk At Nellore when I joined there.He was also a good Brahmin and of helping nature. He always had a smiling disposition and a helping nature. He had the best working knowledge of the bank. Practically he was a gem. Taking me as an inspiration, he too completed CAIIB IN few instalments and later became an officer.He attended my brothers marriage also at nellore then.He was agood friend of mine.

Transfer to mj market, hyderabad

I had almost completed five to six years at nellore branch. One fine morning I recieved transfer orders to hyderabad , mj market branch. I did not know how to react.My father in law said that he would use political influence and cancel the orders. But I knew that political pressure would not succeed at that time.

Vasu was at Hyderabad at that time. Since beginning everyone was saying that theirs was a joint family, We thought that we would be living at Vasus house at hyderabad. But Vasu promptly refused saying he was single and some other males were staying with him and our stay with him was impossible.

So I pleaded with Ramprasad to retain me at nlr by using union influence.At that time he had accident and had multiple factures. He was taking treatment at hyderabad . He got me retention for that year. I dont know how he managed it.

Everyone in the branch was commenting that he lied at circle office to stop my transfer.

assignments

we had to write assignments for each subject in BL.It was for 10-15 marks.they will be added to our written exam marks.All those assignments also, I used to write in my free time in the bank.During exams period I did not even apply for leave. This was because when I applied for sick leave our manager Govindu refused to forward it. He thought that I would get monitary benefit If I passed BLExamination time started at 9 am .So I used to go and write the exam as if time permitted was only two hours and come out of the examination hall. Then directly I used to goto bank and attend the duty.I felt it was a challenge and in the end I eventually succeeded. I passed in all the papers. Actually there was no benefit in my writing the exams. It was sheer academic interest.During the entire course , I attended only one period. I was actually interested but practically I could not attend.Lakki, vikky, and vinny were all small children. Already I was spending less time with them due to my job. So all my BL preaparation, caiib preparation , I did when they were asleep or in thye bank during free time.Atlast my lifes wish that I should complte BL got materialised.

joining in bl

After completion of Caiib,I was free. I did not know what to do. In the mean time, I concieved my second daughter.After her birth , I thought of joining in BL.There is reason behind it. My eldest brother in law , venu bava joined in BL.he bought all the books but could not study properly and complte it. But he was interested in it. I used to see those books whenever I went to their house. In the meanwhile ,my second brother in law, Surya prakasa rao also completed the course. Naturally it is a prestige issue for me. Actually he is an Indian Bank emnployee. Because he did CAIIB, I did it. Now if he did BL., I too had to do it. I dont know whether my line of thoughtr was right or wrong. but thinking in those lines only i joined in BL.More over one of our officers, Venkata rao ,clerk,KPrabhakar Rao and others of my branch were also doing it.VR Law College accounts were with our bank.That year evening college for employees was started. We need not actually attend the classes but our attendence would be 100%Regarding assignments, I used to write whenever there was free time in the bank.I used to take books to the bank and study whenever their was leisure. So my attending children at home was least affected by my joining in bl. That was the beauty of it.

Actually,when I joined at Nellore branch ,no one was interested in CAIIB. Most of them were seniors. When I joined there with barely two years of service and already completed CAIIB PART 1,they felt they too should look into the matter. Almost everyone started preparing for the exam.In fact. KPrabhakar rao and Seshagiri rao completed part 1&2 in no time. Elders say that vivaahaaya vidyanaasaaya ,samsaaraaya sarvam naasaaya. It means that with marriage education is affected adversely and with family every thing is lost.I too was affected to certain extent.Part 2 banking I passed without any preparation. The preparation for part 1 was sufficient. But regarding other subjects I had to strive, mainly regarding accountancy.Because at Nellore I did not know where to go for learning the subject except my colleagues at the branch.I really worked hard after completing my work at the branch and request them to teach me till it was 5pm.I could not touch the books at home because I was newly wed and I was afraid how they would react if I started reading all the time. Later the scene changed what with my pregnancy and child bearing.I realised I could not compete with others and attempt all the remaining subjects all at a time. I decided to prepare for a single subject each time though I applied for all the subjects. This way I could get familiar with the other subject papers and pass atleast pass one subjest at a time.It clicked and I could at last complete all the subjects and it had taken four and half yesrs that is 9 attempts to pass six subjects.I completed part 2 in 1984.

international womens day

Last Friday. Phone call from HRMSsection came asking for me. I went to recieve it. One lady from the concerned sectioned told that they had conducted small function on international womens day.That day they gave small mometos to few women employees. Of them I was the seniormost women special assistant in the entire Hyderabad circle. So they were sending a small gift in recognition of my services. I was happy to recieve that information. They said that they were sending the gift through Suresh,our officer who had gone to STC on training. On SATURDAY our manager gave me the parcel. In it were four coffe mugs . They were cute and Iliked the gift. Manager said that he too would conduct ameeting and hand over it But later he passed on the gift to me.Thirtythree years of service in Canara Bank and still two years to go. It is never too late.I am happy and satisfied.

Muralikrishna

Soon after Gurudasappa got transferred, Murali krishna came in his place. He was very good looking, real gentleman and knew the work very well.He maintained good relations with the staff.

He was interested in karnatak music and giving AIR performances also in Veena recital.He did not work long at Nellore. He became DM at a very early age.In the hall, cash and SB,CA AND OD,DD counters were being handled. In the back side adjacent to the hall,Typist, day book, Tappal sections were doing their work. Still back side, Statements, advances sections were handled. When once, Muralikrishna came to our room , I was talking something and did not stop even when he entered. He talked with MRKMurthy and left. After he went, senior clerks admonished me for my behaviour.They said that I had to give respect by stopping talking and stand up like they did. While I was handling daybook department, I studied for Accountancy part-2 during free time. I used to request my seniors to teach me and they happily obliged. With their help only I could pass CAIIB

succesfully.

Gurudaasappa&Narayana

Gurudaasappa was our manager. He had neither great physique nor looks. Narayana was our sub staff. He was fair looking ,chubby and was tall. He could ride a bike. I think Gurudasappa did not know how to ride a bike. So, when ever they had to go to customers ,either for deposit mobilisation or recovery of debts, manager used to take Narayanas help.Narayana used to ride the bike and naturally customers used to think he was the manager and wish him while ignoring Gurudasappa,the manager.Every time ,he had to introduce himself and it was embarassing for him. Everyone was joking about it in the branch. After Gurudasappa got transferred, another story came up. One poor paperboy had taken a small dpn loan . Manager said that he would not pay him the paper money but credit it to his loan account. But as the loan was over due party had been consulted and he said that previous manager had credited paper money to the loan account. But there were no credits. I really dont know the credibilty of these gossips but they were floating around.

cash department

Our manager at Nellore branch was Gurudaasappa.I went to his cabin and gave my transfer orders and joining report. He sentme to Kanade,our secondline manager. He was aMaharashtrian. He was goodnatured person. He told me that they recieved a letter from headoffice to observe my behaviour because Ihad been headstrong and adamant at my previous branch. He convinced me that he would not spoil my record but to cooperate with him in daytoday affairs, I agreed. I was given cash department. I did not handle it at Guntur branch. Business and cash transactions were heavy. They told me to handle just reciepts as I was new to the department.Daily cash was either excess or short. But on final counting it was tallying. I was not efficient in making up sections.One day as soon as it was 5oclock I left the branch.During final tallying cash was short. They thought of calling me back but as a final checkup they searched all the drawres and the remaining cash was there.Next dy they told that that I should not go home without handing over all the cash and tallying it. From then I was little bit cautious.One day customer brought one fifty section saying that two pieces were short. Our officer Manian gave him the money and sent him. Actually in those days if there is shortage in counted sections. clerk and officer used to share fifty//fifty. But as he had checked the section and signed ,he had taken full responsibility and paid .
